Alison Weaver is the founding Executive Director of the Moody Center for the Arts, a new facility on the campus of Rice University dedicated to cross-disciplinary collaboration between the arts, sciences and humanities. Prior to arriving at Rice, Weaver served as the Director of Affiliates for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York where she oversaw the museum’s programs and operations in Berlin, Bilbao, Venice, and Las Vegas. While at the Guggenheim, she managed the departments of Exhibition Management, Registration, Art Services and Library and Archives, and together with her curatorial colleagues, implemented a wide range of international traveling exhibitions, from historical loan shows to contemporary commissions. Alison holds advanced degrees in art history from Williams College and the City University of New York and graduated cum laude with a BA from Princeton University. After earning an MBA in non-profit management from the Yale School of Management, she gained valuable management experience as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. Her academic research focuses on the dialogue between artists in the United States and Europe after 1945, with a particular focus on post-war German artists.
