Lynn Barnett has served as the Executive Director of the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council since 1980. In that capacity she has had the opportunity to help launch several art related organizations and efforts including the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, Center for Contemporary Arts, the Children’s Art & Literacy Festival, Storybook Sculpture Project and the Abilene’s Cultural District. She also worked with the Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau to receive the designation of “Storybook Capital of America”from the US Trademark and Patent Office.

 She has served on several panels for the Texas Commission on the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts, and received the national Selina Roberts Ottum Award in 2004 from Americans for the Arts for outstanding arts council leadership. Lynn received her BFA. from Smith College and her M.A from Abilene Christian University.
