The Citadelle Art Museum
Wendie Murfee Cook has more than 20 years of professional experience under her belt. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Interior Design and double minors in both art and architecture. She previously served as a Senior Design Executive of a high-end design firm in Dallas with published client projects from all over the United States, curating clients’ art collections along the way. Now in her second career, Cook is the Executive Director and Curator of Art of The Citadelle Art Museum in Canadian,TX. The Citadelle is one of only three art museums in the 26,000 sq. mile Texas panhandle. With grit and determination, she developed the museum from the ground-up into a thriving non-profit and art education leader in the Texas panhandle.
In her community, Cook is elected to the Canadian City Council, serves on the Economic Development Corporation, established Canadian’s state-recognized Cultural District, and is a member of the Texas Cultural Trust. Also requiring her creativity and calendar time are numerous appointments to statewide boards for arts, culture, and heritage.
At home, Wendie loves on her husband, Tony, who is a Family Practice physician and Chief Medical Officer for Hemphill County Hospital District. Together they raise three busy boys aged 15 to eight.
